🌟 Youth Empowerment Programs
At the Charleston-Institute Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., we are committed to uplifting the next generation of young women through dynamic and empowering youth initiatives. Our two signature programs—Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy and Delta GEMS (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully)—are designed to guide, inspire, and equip African American girls for success in all areas of life.
🔺 Delta Academy
For girls ages 11–14 (Middle School)
The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is a unique program for young ladies who demonstrate potential but may not have access to the opportunities and resources they need to flourish. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and culturally enriching experiences, Delta Academy provides a safe, supportive space where girls can:
- Explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and the arts
- Build self-confidence and leadership skills
- Engage in community service
- Connect with caring adult mentors
- Learn about African American history and culture
Our goal is to develop strong, socially conscious young leaders who are ready to meet the challenges of today—and tomorrow.
🔺 Delta GEMS
For girls ages 14–18 (High School)
Delta GEMS—Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully—is designed to help high school girls discover their brilliance and develop a road map for academic and personal success. This program focuses on:
- Goal setting and time management
- College and career exploration
- Financial fitness and entrepreneurship
- Leadership development
- Mental health and emotional wellness
- Community engagement and global awareness
Delta GEMS cultivates confident, capable, and civically engaged young women who are prepared to transition into womanhood with purpose and pride.
❤️ Join Us
Both Delta Academy and Delta GEMS are free to participants and led by passionate volunteers and professional women who are members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Sessions are held monthly during the academic year, and enrollment opens each fall.
If you know a young lady who would benefit from these programs, please reach out! Together, we are shaping a brighter future, one girl at a time.
